To the family, friends and students of Johns,

How fortunate we all were to know him. He brought Shakespeare to us , in a way that only John knew how, and soon we loved Shakespeare. Reading about Barnabee was a chore, but afterJohn explained him, it all made sense and seamed worthwhile. He taught us the difference between Myths and Faith. He walked us through the history of the people of Vietnam, Then he took us by his side and walked us through the Vietnam War. He had so much passion, and love for teaching. There will never be another, nor will we ever forget him.

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers. John was an exceptional man of great heart and spirit. He was my hero, my champion, my king, and my love. And it is as he always said: "Death does not kill that which never dies."

I had the honor of being one of his student in Summersville and then teaching his class for him in Houston in 1987. He made The Hobbit come to life for me and will always be 'Gandalf' to me. I am so sorry for your loss.

John was always good to me, as a teacher on his staff at Columbia College at the Lake. I also knew him from the campus in Mt. View so many years ago. He was smart, funny, and determined to have a good college. John was bluntly honest and straightforward and you always knew where he stood. I am so very sorry for Paula! We have shared a lot over the years. Blessings on the family.

I lost a great big brother and friend, we had wonderful times together and laughed alot. He was the best educator, administrator, and mentor I ever knew. I listened a lot, learned a lot and loved him immensely. He fought the good fight and is in a much better place, I will miss you every day!
