Raymond Walter Varner, 72, of Jamestown, MO passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
He was born May 8, 1942 son of Norman Walter and Lela Mae (Cornett) Varner. Walter retired from the State of Missouri Highway Department. He enjoyed Sports, Hunting , Fishing and any thing outdoors but most of all he loved to spoil his grand kids. He served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by one son, Jason (Becca) Varner of Holts Summit, MO one Daughter Sara Connor (Ray Huett) of California, MO, two brothers Butch Varner and Lonnie Vaughan, 5 sisters Betty Varner, Ann Imhoff, Toni Pace, Jackie Cantwell and Alice Hartman and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear friend and ex-wife Christine Varner. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Clyde Varner, Stepbrother David Vaughan, sisters Una Ann Varner and Sharon Sue Varner and step fathers Flo Amos and Harley Vaughan.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm, Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Tim Redmond officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 5:00 pm also Saturday prior to the service.
Memorials are suggested to the grandchildrens college fund.
