Steven Buckner Obituary

Steven Allen Buckner “Buckie” was born on July 3, 1981, at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, WA, to Mark and Karol Buckner. On August 17, 2024, Steven passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Eldon, MO. A proud Navy Seabee Veteran, Steven dedicated his life to serving his country and later became a devoted mail carrier. He was known for his friendly demeanor and commitment to his community.

Steven cherished his role as a father. He found joy in every moment spent with his children, Hayli and Hunter. His love for his family was evident in all that he did. It didn’t take long for him to express his excitement about Hayli making him a grandpa in November and Hunter’s accomplishments and heading away to college. An avid Fantasy Football and NASCAR enthusiast, Steven enjoyed sharing his passions with friends and family, often bringing excitement to gatherings with his heated discussions and friendly competitions.

Steven is preceded in death by his father, Mark Buckner, and grandparents, Franklin Buckner and Franklin and Kitty Ackerman.

He is survived by his children, daughter Hayli, and son Steven "Hunter." Mother, Karol Buckner. Brothers, Ross (Shannon) Buckner, Franklin (Francine) Buckner, and Mark (Amanda) Buckner. Grandmother Shirley Buckner.  Aunts and Uncles, Craig, Kerri (Bobby), Kay, Barbara, Virginia, Mary. Nephews, Weslee, Kai, Drew, and Avery. Niece’s Kari and Faith. Great nieces Maele and Evelyn. As well as a long list of cousins, service brothers and sisters, and friends. Steven's memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

While we miss him in this world, we know he is watching over his children and will be proud to watch over his granddaughter Jaycee when she arrives in November.

“Fair winds and following seas.”

Military honors will be held at Higginsville Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO, on September 6, 2024, at 3 pm. Friends are also welcome to gather at Dunham City Park in Versailles, MO, on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 5-7 pm.
