Ross "Bud" Houston, Jr. Obituary

Ross “Bud” Campbell Houston, Jr. died at his home on Monday, December 27, 2021.  He was born in Senath, MO on April 21, 1934 the son of the late Ross and Florence (McKinney) Houston.  Bud graduated from Senath High School in Senath, MO.  Immediately after graduating high school he joined the United States Navy working in communications.  He was honorably discharged from the Navy on December 17, 1957.  He loved playing baseball.  Employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone for several decades, Bud held several positions at various locations.  He came to Eldon in 1968 and worked in the engineering department.  He married Connie Troxel on December 17, 1984 in Hermitage, MO.  Together they maintained a small farm outside of Eldon.  Bud retired from Southwestern Bell in 1990.  He enjoyed his John Deere tractor, mowing, watching the deer, playing with the horses, and having a dog (a toy poodle).  He liked nothing better than sitting in his easy chair and just looking out the window.

 

Survivors include, his wife, Connie, a nephew Art Miller and his wife Wanda of Willow Springs, MO and a nephew Bill Mustion and wife Natalie of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

 

Bud was preceded in death by his parents and six older siblings.

 

There will be a Graveside Service at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Greenmore Memorial Gardens in Barnett, MO. with Todd Craig and Jerry Baysinger officiating.   Full Military Honors presented.

 

In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Show-Me Christian Home at LaMonte, MO or the organization of your choice.

 

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO.
