Robert Wayne Courtney

Robert Wayne Courtney, 73, of California, Missouri passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.  He was born on July 27, 1951, in Lexington, Kentucky.  He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Robert Lewis and Irene (Richardson) Courtney of Auxvasse, Missouri, his sister Betty jean (Courtney) Stanberry of North Carolina, and his niece Leslie Annette (Lovings) Scrivner.

Survivors include,

Daughters, Betty (Dave) Courtney-Murrell of Houston, Texas, and Melisa (Sean) Atwell of Eldon, Missouri.

Sister, Leah (Duhaiman) Al-Duhaiman and their children who loved him very much, Deemah, Ali, Mohammed, and Rheemah.

Grandchildren, Kenneth Avery Coutrney, Alex Courtney, Aiden Watson, Wade Watson, Allison Murrell, Lillian Murrell, and Lidia, Adelyn, and Nehemiah Atwell from Eldon, Missouri.

Nephews, Ronald Wayne Lovings, Jr of Kentucky, and Joshua David Stanberry and wife Traci of North Carolina.

Robert grew up on a tobacco farm in Kentucky and wrote about his adventures on slapyopappy.com.   His family eventually settled in Auxvasse, Missouri.  He joined the Untied States Army in 1971 until discharge in 1979.  Robert continued to work for the U.S. government working in logistics and computer programming.  He retired in 2002 and moved to California, Missouri.

Robert loved his family, music, cooking, cars, and playing his guitar.  He was an avid gunsmith, knifemaker, and lover of all things Popeye.  He was a storyteller at heart, and he was the life of every party always making those around him laugh.  He will be dearly missed.
