Mildred Corinne Richardson Knox, 92, passed away on December 27, 2023.
She was born in Tuscumbia, Missouri, on January 24, 1931, to William Richardson and Bessie Emma Pullen Richardson.
She graduated from Eldon High in 1948, and married Alvin Luther Knox in Marshall, MO, in 1949. They were married 21 years; there were five children of that union.
She was a strong, independent lady who worked hard all of her life to care for her children and family. Her feisty spirit allowed for many experiences where she made a difference in the lives of those around her. She lived and raised her five children in Marshall, MO, Springfield, MO, and California, MO, while working and setting an example of being a hard worker who always wanted to improve herself and bring high standards to each workplace.
She was known for her sharp wit and strong sense of humor among her family and friends.
After divorcing in 1969, she continued contributing to her community working several jobs to provide for her daughters. All three of her sons served in the military while her daughters grew and graduated from school in California, MO, and Eldon, MO. Her children and grandchildren were always an important part of her life, and she passed her strong work ethic and common sense to each of them.
She moved to Miller County in the seventies and cared for her father in her home in Olean until his death in 1991. She was proud to have worked daily for 60 years and to have retired from Fasco Industries in Eldon, MO, at the age of 76.
Mrs. Knox was preceded in death by her parents; her three siblings, Warren Richardson (known as Hassen), Thelma Jacobs, Lloyd Richardson; her grandson, Michael Knox; and granddaughter, Theresa Fiegenbaum.
She is survived by three sons, Curtis Alvin Knox of Phoenix, AZ , Ronnie Dean Knox and wife, Karen, of Bryan, TX , Kenneth Dale Knox and wife, Susie, of Prairie Home, MO ; two daughters, Treva Lynn Stephens and husband, Glenn, of Peoria, AZ , and LaVonda Kay Richardson of Smyrna, TN ; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren across the states of Missouri, South Dakota, Arizona and Texas.
Visitation will be held at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon, MO, on January 5, 2024, at 10 am, followed by funeral services at 11 am.
Private interment will be at Olean Cemetery.
