Merle E. Boelsen, 93, of Columbia and Sedalia, MO, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia, Mo.
A private grave side service will be held on Saturday September 6th at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, MO for family and close personal friends.
She was born October 1, 1920 to the late Charles Wilson Edmonson and Bertha Grace Whttington in Ray County, MO. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dr. Stewart Henry Boelsen, DVM, Carrollton, MO, and siblings Charles Edmonson, JR, New Orleans, LA and Wilma Grace Soto, Kansas City, MO.
Merle is survived by her daughters, Valerie F. Boelsen, Sedalia, MO and Regina G. Boelsen, Columbia, MO.
She is a retiree of the University of Missouri, Columbia but, is better known for her devotion to her family. She supported her daughters and guided them throughout her live. Merle was introduced to the American Saddlebred Horse through her husband and encouraged her daughters to continue with this passion. She was instrumental to their success in owning and showing this exquisite breed of horse. Attending nearly every horse show in which they exhibited, she spent a lot of time in the stands by herself making her own friends in the horse show circuit. She has been loved and respected by all of her horse show friends as she cheered her daughters in to the winners circle.
In lieu of flowers, her wishes were for donations to her choice of charities, Saddlebred Rescue and Columbia Second Chance.
