Larry Evans Obituary

Larry Dean Evans, age 80, of Eldon, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at his home in Eldon, Missouri surrounded by his family.

Larry was born into this world on May 11, 1942, in his family’s home in Stanberry, Missouri. He was the son of Emery Evans Sr. and Nellie Grace (Dillon) Evans.

After meeting the love of his life, he was united in marriage on July 21, 1962, to Ventura “Vinnie” (Thompson) Evans. They shared over 60 beautiful years of marriage together at the time of his passing.

Larry graduated from King City High school in 1962. He was baptized and was a life member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. Larry served his church in many callings, but most often as a Ward Clerk. He proudly worked for many years as Night Audit Manager and Manager on Duty for Marriot’s Tan Tara. He enjoyed this position and met many interesting challenges, but also met many celebrities. After his retirement in 1998, Larry continued to keep books and do some accounting, but his time was spent mostly researching family history. Through this research he traced one family line back to the early 1700s, and another family line dating back to Adam.

Larry was a family man and loved his family so dearly. He enjoyed visiting with his every growing family and greatly adored his children, grandchildren, and great grandbabies.

Larry is survived by his wife Vinnie Evans, of the home; four sons, Emery Allan Evans (Sheryl) of Eldon, Missouri, Nathan Dillon Evans (Dawn) of Lake Ozark, Missouri, Jason Scott Evans (Heather) of Eldon, Missouri, and Michael Joseph Evans (Kelly) of Springfield, Missouri; two daughters Deborah Lynn Roehl (Terry) of Eldon, Missouri and Sarah Elizabeth Walden (Mike) of Greenville, South Carolina; one brother Emery Evans jr.; four sisters, Ruth DeWendt, Mary Pulley, Jane Treffer and Elizabeth Stephens.

Larry was preceded in death by both of his parents Emery and Nellie Evans; his son Jamey Mckay Evans; nine brothers and sisters

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 8, 2022, from 9am to 11am at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Osage Beach, Missouri with funeral services beginning at 11:00am.

Interment will be on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 9am at Sexton’s Cemetery (formerly Savannah Cemetery) in Savannah, Missouri.

Arrangements have been placed into the care of Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon, Missouri.
