Obituary

Larry Apperson, 82 of Eldon, Missouri passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023 at his residence.  He was born March 25, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri.  He was adopted upon his birth by Louie Floyd and Helen Dean (Blackburn) Apperson. 

Larry graduated Eldon High School in 1959.  He began his employment as a carpenter for Louie Apperson and then went to work with Glen Mastin in Clinton, MO.  Larry eventually started his own construction company in 1967 in Eldon, MO to present. 

Larry was united in marriage to Alicia (Hall) Apperson on March 31, 1962 and to this union two children were born, Doug Apperson (Jill) and Monica Smith (Jerry).  He then married Wilma (Moats) Apperson on December 4, 1976 and surviving step-children include, Barb Pearson (Maurice); Jackie Moats; Greg Moats (Debbie); Janet Morris; and they raised grandson Zachary Jewell.  Also surviving are, nineteen other grandchildren; forty-two great grandchildren & four great-great grandchildren; sister, Priscilla Walkup (Dale)

Larry and Wilma donated time and materials to the Rock Island Park and Apperson Ball Field in Eldon, MO.  They also supported the Eldon Turkey Festivals, the annual Eldon Christmas Parade, the Eldon Merchants and school activities throughout the years in Eldon. 

Larry enjoyed having morning coffee and conversation with other business associates before work each day.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Wilma, a sister, Alvia Stiffler, and a son-in-law, Curtis Morris.

Visitation will be Friday August 25, 2023 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 AM with Minister Chris Reynolds officiating.  Burial will follow at the Eldon City Cemetery.

Memorials in his name are suggested to the Dogwood Animal Shelter.
