Josephine Bittle Obituary

Josephine (Thuli) Bittle, 92 of Eldon, MO passed away Monday, July 14,2025 at her home with family.  She was born May 29, 1933 in Stockton, Illinois to Arnold and Josephine (Nigg) Thuli.  

Josephine was the middle child of seven, born into a loving family who were proud of their Swiss heritage. She was united in marriage on June 29, 1955 to William E. Bittle in San Diago, California.  Bill and Josephine met on a dance floor in Nebraska; they spent a life time dancing (2 month shy of 66 year). Josephine was a devoted wife, a stay-at-home mother, a farmer’s wife, bookkeeper for Bittle Plumbing, owner of Josephine’s Upholstery shop, and school cook. Josephine made her husband and family a priority.  Josephine was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eldon, MO.  Josephine, mom, grandmother and great grandmother will be dearly missed.

She is survived by 4 of her children: Mary Ellen (Bob) Rustemeyer of Raymore, MO, Juanita (Greg) Jarrett of Eldon, MO, Jim (Angie) Bittle of Rocky Mount, MO, Theresa (Matt) Harenza of Carthage, MO.

16 grandchildren: Brett and Joseph Rustemeyer, Kyle (Hailey) Mormann, Katie Ortbals, Kaleb (Katy) Mormann, Seth (Mallory) Jarrett, Sarah (Brian) Cusworth, Anne, Emma and Luke Jarrett, Christian (Jarrod) Cambell, Carma Bittle, Jayme (Adam) Cummings, Jeremiah and Jessica Harenza.

17 great grandchildren: Noah, Natalie, Cole, Lydia, August, Heath, Colton, Caroline, Crosby, Eleanor, Watson, Edison, Kaydith, Hannah, Lennon, Ivan and Etta, two sisters, Emma Novinski and Katie (Paul) Stauffacher.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson Matthew Harenza, her husband Bill Bittle, one daughter Ramona Mormann, three brothers Arnold, Joseph, Paul Thuli, one sister Mary Schoenmann.

 

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 22, 2025at 9 AM-11 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Eldon, MO with the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 AM with Rev. John J. Schmitz officiating, and assisted by Deacon Mark Thuli.  Burial will be at a later date in the Eugene Cemetery officiated by Rev. Simon Jude Kanyike.

Memorials in her name are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Eldon, MO. 

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO.
