Jerry Wadsworth LaBrue

Jerry Wadsworth LaBrue, age 69 passed away peacefully Sunday, May 14, 2023, at his home in Osage Beach, Missouri. He was born November 4, 1953, in Columbia, Missouri to Verle and Jennie LaBrue.

          After graduating from Hickman High School in Columbia he attended Northwest Missouri State located in Maryville, Missouri and received a B.S. in Education. He taught Industrial Arts for 12 years at Climax Springs High School & Tuscumbia High School. With a growing family he later reinvented himself and went into the insurance business in 1981, which he worked up until his death. He enjoyed his loyal customers and fought hard to make sure they were protected.

          Loved by all who met him, Jerry’s spirit is carried on by his wife of 50 years, Isabella (Belle) and his three sons: Jeremiah (wife, Sharon and son, Jordan), Kyle (wife, Cassandra and daughters, Alexa & Makinley and son, Kesten); Westen who preceded Jerry in death on September 4, 2021 (Daughter Kylie Ann LaBrue and step sons, Tyler Zybtek and Colton Joshua). He was preceded in death by his parents Verle and Jennie LaBrue and in laws Nelson and Ann Stonner.

          Jerry lived life his way and gave little regard for what people thought of him. He constructed a geodesic dome home in 1979 where he lived up until his death. He was happiest around a campfire, wherever he could find one. He loved sports and loved doing fun activities with his family. His faith in God was especially important to him and he tried to provide Christian service wherever he could. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served in several callings but spent most of his time with the youth. He felt like the best lessons were around the campfire and he never gave up on those youth going through a tough time. Jerry even opened his home up to some of those youth as they navigated their course after graduation. Jerry always loved the funny antics of teenagers.

          Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 1st at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints off Hwy KK in Osage Beach, Missouri. Immediately following the funeral, a Celebration of Life gathering will take place at the Summit Point neighborhood pool in Osage Beach starting at 11:30 a.m., all are invited to attend.  In lieu of flowers Jerry would like you to bless someone’s life at random by paying it forward.
