James "Jim" Procter

James “Jim” Procter, 90, passed away on February 23, 2025 in Overland Park, KS. He was born April 5, 1934 in Kansas City, MO to William C. and May (Williams) Procter.  He grew up in Olean, MO and graduated from Eldon High School in 1951. He married his high school sweetheart, Carol Roark, in 1953.

Jim worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 46 years, until his retirement in 1996.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years Carol (Roark)Procter, Overland Park, KS; sister Barbara (Bill) Jenkins, Russellville, MO; brother Frank Procter, Olean MO; sons David (Sandy) Procter, Manhattan , KS; Duane (Leslie) Procter, Wichita KS; daughters Susanne Procter, Independence,MO; Sharon (Daryl) Mann, Weatherby,MO; Sandra (Bruce) Sanders, Eudora,KS. Grandchildren Ben (Nate) Altadena, CA; Sam (Cody) Pittsburgh, PA; James (Hannah) Wichita, KS; Hannah (Mason) Wichita, KS; Micah (TJ) Eudora, KS; Julia (Weston) Overbrook,KS. Four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents W.C. and May Procter; brother William J. Procter; and sister Georgia Marie Burlingame.

Jim was a devoted husband, and loving father and grandfather. Times spent with family were the most meaningful and enjoyable parts of life for him. He loved to laugh, tell stories around the supper table, and be an encouragement to those he loved. He was a woodworker, an avid thrift-store shopper, and his love of horses never waned.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Allen Cemetery, Olean, MO or Advanced Home Health and Hospice of Kansas City.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 10:00 AM -11:00 AM at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow at Allen Cemetery in Olean, MO.
