James William Mead age 87, passed away peacefully at Lake Regional Hospital on Wednesday July 26, 2023. James was born in Bagnell Missouri on October 6, 1935, to Opal and Johnnie Mead. He was a graduate of School of the Osage High School and University of Missouri.
James married Ruby Allen, and together they had three children, Debbie, Marjorie, and Alan. James known as “Jim” by his work family and community and was born and raised in the lake area. He has been involved in his family’s cattle business for the past 80 years and was a second generational farmer. He had a true passion for the agricultural industry. When he wasn’t tending to his job at the bank you could easily find him out working on his cattle, hog and crop farm. James was hired by Jim Franklin Sr. as an Installment and Commercial Loan Officer on March 20, 1973, and shortly after in 1976, promoted to Vice President of Commercial Loans. In 1982, James was again promoted to Senior Vice President of Commercial Loans, which was his position when he passed. During his employment with the bank, he also joined the Board of Directors at Central Bank of Lake of the Ozarks and became Board Chairman in 2005. James is survived by his wife, Ruby; his daughter (Debbie Stout and her husband Ron Stout) and son (Alan Mead) and his three grandchildren (Steven Stout, Annaliese, and Juliette Mead) and one sister, Barbara Riley and was predeceased by his mother and father Opal and Johnnie Mead and his daughter Marjorie Mead and one brother in law, Richard "Dick" Riley. Memorial services will be held at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon Missouri on Monday July 31, 2023. Public visitation at 9:00am to 11:00am with a private family service to follow. Memorial donations may be made in Jim Mead’s name to Greenmoore Memorial Gardens, Barnett, Missouri.
