J. D. Cotten Obituary

J. D. Cotten, 77, of Eldon, Missouri passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Landmark Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.  He was born July 28, 1947 in Miller County, Missouri the son of the late Daniel and Hazel (Templeton) Cotten.  On April 11, 1964 in Tuscumbia, Missouri he was united in marriage to Ella Mae (Rains) Cotten who preceded him in death on August 19, 2020.

Survivors include,

Sons, Darrin Cotten (Truly) of Dixon, MO; Roger Cotten of Smithton, MO; Stephen Cotten (Gracie) of Eldon, MO

Eight Grandchildren, Tyler, Taylor, Trevor, Masen, Adalynn, McKenna, Brayleigh and Kennedi and Five Great-Grandchildren

Sisters, Lisa Moyer of Zephyrhills, FL; Judy Teal of Chetopa, KS

Brothers, David Cotten of Eldon, MO; James Cotten of Rocky Mount, MO

Daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Cotton

Special Friend, Eddie Cotten of Eldon, MO

Along with his parents and his wife, a son, Michael Cotten, siblings, John Cotten, Norman Cotten, Hazel May Cotten, and special friend, Jim Pryor preceded him in death.

J.D. was employed with Pryor Novelty in Tuscumbia, MO, the Lake Ozark and the Osage Beach Police Departments and then Osage Products of Eldon, MO for twenty years until his retirement in 1996.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a skilled mechanic.

Per his wishes, his body has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will be Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11:00 AM at New Life Assembly of God Church in Barnett, MO.  Private Family Interment will be held at the Eldon City Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Ella Mae Cotten. 

Memorials in his name are suggested to the American Heart Association.
