Imogene Ardis Horton, 92, of Tuscumbia, Missouri passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Missouri. She was born August 10, 1931 in Ulman, Missouri the daughter of the late Verner H. and Dorothy Pauline (Hudson) Beard. On August 14, 1949 in Aurora Springs, Missouri she was united in marriage to Willard David Horton who preceded her in death on January 7, 1996.

Along with her husband and parents, a son, David “Red” Horton, a daughter-in-law, Sandy Horton, daughter, Joyce Burton, son-in-law, Stanley Burton, infant daughter, Marybeth Horton, two infant grandchildren, Jessie Burton & Emmett Lynn McClelland, a brother, Raymond Beard, and two sisters, Pauline Hensley & Missy Beard preceded her in death.
Imogene was a member of the Tuscumbia Baptist Church of Tuscumbia, MO where she was the church secretary and cooked for the Wednesday night Youth Group along with her sister, June. She was a member of the Quilting Club and President of the PTO. She enjoyed writing short stories, poetry, and painting. She was owner/operator of Modern Beauty Salon and was a cook at the Tuscumbia School System for over twenty years.
Visitation will be Friday, October 20, 2023 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Tuscumbia Baptist Church with the Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 PM with Rev. David Visser officiating. Burial will follow at Gott Cemetery.
