Hazel Gier Obituary

Hazel Mae (Scott) Gier, 97, of High Point, Missouri passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2021 at her home in High Point, Missouri surrounded by her loving family. On December 8, 1924 she was born in rural Moniteau County, the daughter of the late Jesse and Ada (Enloe) Scott. On January 16, 1945 in Tuscumbia, Missouri she was united in marriage to Ersal P. Gier.

Survivors include daughter Linda (Gier) & husband Dennis Killday, Eldon, MO. Seven Grandchildren & Spouses: Bryan & Tracy Allison, Flemington, MO; Ronnie & Leslie Maher, Redfield, KS; Pamela Allison, Flemington, MO; Chad & Jill Williams, Eldon, MO; Tanya Dallmeyer & Janelle Killday, Jefferson City, MO; Shannon Killday, Edina, MO.  Fourteen great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren.

 

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Ersal Gier; daughter, Barbara Allison; her parents, and seven siblings.

 

She graduated from Olean High School. Hazel and her husband, Ersal, met in grade school, walked to school together and lived on adjoining farms. They eventually married and later in life she and Ersal purchased the farms they grew up on where they raised cattle. Hazel had a passion for farm life and was involved in every aspect of it.  She spent most of her life as a farmer’s wife and mother to two children. She helped on the farm planting and harvesting the crops and raising cattle.  Hazel was an avid gardener, canning much of what she grew.  She loved cooking and entertaining but especially enjoyed when all of the family could be together. Hazel had a passion for serving others and was dearly loved by all who met her. She was a very active member of Green Ridge Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and VBS for many years.

 

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 23, 2021 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO. Funeral service will be immediately after visitation. Interment will follow at Green Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorials are suggested to the Green Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or Phoenix Home Care & Hospice.
