Harold L. Travis, Sr.

Harold L. Travis, Sr., 75 of Eldon, Missouri who left us far too soon, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at his residence in Eldon, Missouri.  Harold fondly known as Howie was born to Dean and Helen (Forrester) Travis on November 13, 1948 in Oklahoma.  He enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 and served 2 tours in Vietnam.  After he was honorably discharged, he became Chief of Police of Osage Beach, MO.  He then furthered his career by becoming a Missouri Water Patrolman.  He eventually retired from Westinghouse in 1988.  After his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, camping and fishing.  Harold was a faithful member and Deacon of Bagnell Baptist Church.

In the year of 1970, he married the love of his life, Patricia Ann (Wood) Travis who survives of the home.  Other survivors include, his three children, Dawn and wife Leslie Travis of Grain Valley, MO; Harold, Jr. “Chubby” and wife Lockey Travis of Eldon, MO; Phil and wife Amber Travis of Joplin, MO.  A brother, Phillip, Sr and wife Sue of Centerview, MO.  Four grandchildren, Justin, Shawn, and Brenden Travis of Eldon, MO and MacKenzie Travis of Grain Valley, MO and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Helen, and his sister, Clara Lucille. 

Visitation will be Friday, January 26, 2024 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO with the Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 PM with Pastor Earl Wood officiating.  Burial with Full Military Honors presented will follow at Tol Wood Cemetery near Eldon, MO.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorials are suggested to Central Missouri Honor Flight.
