Graham Grimes Obituary

Graham Terrance Grimes, 65, peacefully passed on March 20, 2020 after a courageous ten year battle with lung and bone cancer. He was in his home surrounded by his wife and daughters.  Graham was born on June 21, 1954 and is the son of the late Graham T. Grimes and Marie (Blacker) Grimes.  He was born and raised in Evanston, Illinois.  After graduating high school, Graham proudly served in the United States Navy.   Graham married Kathi (Baackes), the love of his life, on October 16, 1976.  His career began in the car dealership business managing King Nissan in Niles, Illinois for over twenty-seven years.

While a Chicago resident, Tan-Tar-A at Lake of the Ozarks was the Grimes family home away from home in the summer time for over twenty years.  Graham dreamed of living with his family in a small town and in 1996 that dream became a reality with the move to Eldon, Missouri.  He managed Lloyd Belt Automotive for ten years before opening his own small dealership, GT Motors.  Graham was the car salesman that would give you the shirt off of his back.  He believed doing the right thing and helping people was the only way to do business. This was the way Graham approached everything in his life-with his whole heart and giving spirit.

What Graham loved most was his family.  His hobbies included spending time in the sun, golfing, mowing, going out for dinner with friends, grilling with family, relentlessly helping his children and living life to the fullest.

Graham is survived by his wife Kathi, children, Brandi Grimes King, Darin King, Kyle Grimes Henley, Michael Henley, five grandchildren, Rachel King, Courtney King, Kelsey King, Lily Henley & Graham Henley.  Sisters, Kathie Grimes Longston & Kim Grimes Meijer, along with several nieces & nephews.

Due to the CDC guidelines and Graham’s wishes for everyone to be in good health, the family has decided to fore go his celebration of life.

In Lieu of Flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions will be made through the Eldon Community Foundation, Graham Grimes Fund 112 South Pine St. Eldon, MO  65026.
