Gordon Dwayne Goodrick, 85, of Eldon, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Hospice Care in Cheyenne, Wyoming, after a short battle with cancer. Gordon was born September 20, 1938, at the Schnieder Birthing Home in Eldon, Missouri, to Clyde Gordon and Margie Melbarean (Newcum) Goodrick. On April 23, 1960, he was married at the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church to Dorothy DeAun (Graham).
Gordon was raised on the family farm near Mt. Pleasant. He attended the one room school there and was graduate of Eldon High School, class of 1956. He went to work for the Rock Island Railroad in Eldon. His job took him to Topeka, KS, Dalhart, TX, Fairbury, NE, and finally to Alliance, NE. He retired from the Burlington & Northern in Alliance.
Gordon and his family spent time in Colorado working after his retirement and later moved back to Eldon. Gordon was one of the founding members of the Eldon Rough Riders Saddle Club. He was an avid horseman. He enjoyed tooling leather craft, hunting, fishing, and camping in the mountains. He particularly liked hunting for turkey, pheasant, deer, elk, and bear. Gordon liked history and the great outdoors. It has been said he would have been a strong candidate for traveling Westward on a wagon train. The most important thing for him was family. His children learned how to camp out long before they went to school. Those were his happiest memories.
