Gerald "Jerry" Braden died, at the age of 60, on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012 in Jefferson City, MO. at his daughter's residence surrounded by family. Jerry was born to Ora Austin Braden and Mary Ruth Pearson Braden on January 25th, 1952 in Mexico, MO. On June 10th, 1972 he married Pamela Faith Langley of Mokane, MO. with whom he fathered three children. On October 10th, 1987 he married Mary Ann Sparks of Mexico, MO. with whom he fathered two children. Jerry received his EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) license at the University of Missouri in 1971. In 1973 he received his EMTP (paramedic) license. From 1977-1981 he worked for the Montgomery County Ambulance as the Administrator of the Ambulance district. In 1980 he was elected as the Montgomery County Coroner until 1983. From 1979-2003 he served as a Special Deputy for the Sheriff's Department in Mexico and Montgomery City. From 1975-1993 he served as an Instructor for over 700 students in the Emergency Medical Profession. Jerry made his career as a Paramedic at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, MO. from 1981-2003. Jerry enjoyed many hobbies. In 1992 he received his Auctioneer's License. In the 70's and 80's he enjoyed dirt track racing at Fulton and Holt Summit race way where he drove a stock car called the B52 Bomber. He enjoyed building model trains, camping, traveling and vacationing with his family, but his passion was playing guitar and singing bluegrass music in which he won many awards over the years. He was in many bands, one of which, "Headin' South", recorded a CD entitled That Ole Bluegrass Sound. The most recent band he performed with was called "The Front Porch Pickers". He enjoyed entertaining people each week at his church, Centennial Baptist. He was survived by his parents, Austin and Ruth Braden of Tebbetts MO. His children, daughter Pagena Mae Nichols, daughter Cassie LeighAnn May, Son Samuel Anthony David Braden all of Jefferson City, MO., daughter Tabitha Ann Braden and daughter Abigail Lea Braden of Mexico, MO. as well as grandson Brennan Andrew Nichols, grandson Zain Christopher Braden and step grandson Landon Charles Rowan May all of Jefferson City, MO. Jerry's body was donated to the University of Missouri Science Department, per his request, so that he could continue to help others even in death.
