Geneva Catherine Herfurth

Geneva Catherine Herfurth, age 103, of California, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Villa Marie skilled nursing in Jefferson City.She was born June 25, 1909 in Moniteau County, MO to John F. and Christina M. (Strickfaden) Baker. She married Charles C. Herfurth on November 19, 1936 in California, MO. Geneva graduated from California's Aurora High School in 1929 in the middle of the "depression." She was employed by the California Woolen Mill and aided her father in supporting the family. She was later employed as an expeditor by the California Jacket Factory until she reached retirement. She was a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary. Geneva was a dedicated supporter of the California Senior Nutrition Center and enjoyed many hours working and visiting with the participants. She is survived by a daughter, Judith (Judy) Boyle, 4 grandchildren, John A. Boyle, III, Kathi (Travis) Moore, Kevin Boyle and Trisha Boyle, and two great grandsons Chance and Jacob Moore.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Annunciation Catholic Church in California with visitation being from 10 to 11:00 prior to the service. Burial will be in the Annunciation Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the California Senior Nutrition Center.
