Ellis Marion Bray, 81, of Osage Beach, Missouri passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 4, 2021.
Survivors include his adored wife of 60 years Annetta (Jackie) Bray of Osage Beach; children Jay (Debbie) Bray of Hartsville, IN and Melody (Michael) Rutledge of Woodbury, TN and Marcus Pereira of Porto Allegre, Brazil (Honorary son); grandchildren Jessica Bray (Graham) Gifford of Fayetteville, NC, Marshall (Amber) Gillikin of Murfreesboro, TN, and Valkyrie Rutledge of Woodbury, TN; great grandson Jackson Gifford of Fayetteville, NC; and many treasured nieces and nephews.
The son of Millard Anderson and Orpha Irene Jessie Bray, he was born on February 14, 1940, in Vienna, MO. In addition to his parents, Ellis was preceded in death by his siblings, Helen Oppermann, Berthel Bray, Annamae Snodgrass, Jeanne Cobble, Jimmie Bray, and Lonnie Bray.
After 34 years of service with General Motors in Anderson, IN, Ellis retired in order to spend time pursuing his many interests. Ellis was an accomplished teacher, poet, author, music writer, vocalist, thespian, artisan, Bible scholar, church elder, choir director, rock hound, and life long Cardinals fan. Ellis’s sense of humor and teaching ability entertained generations of loved family members and friends and will continue to be a wonderful example for generations to come through his books and music.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at Riverview Baptist Church in Osage Beach.
Memorials in his name are suggested to Jackie Bray to publish music written by Ellis Bray.
