Dr. N.L. Kirk, 94 of Eldon, Missouri passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Eldon Nursing and Rehab in Eldon, Missouri. He was born January 15, 1927 in Brookfield, Missouri the son of the late Laurence and Ethel Lucille (Mendenhall) Kirk. On June 13, 1949 in Springfield, Missouri he was united in marriage to Mary Margaret (Stark) Kirk who preceded him in death on January 19, 2014.
Survivors include,
Daughters, Suzanne Henley and Barbara (Bill) Stark
Grandchildren, Justin (Tonya) Stark, Kirk (Sarah) Henley, Margaret (Cliff) Reindl, Conor (Kristina) Henley
Nine Great Grandchildren with another due in February and his dog Lucky the Beagle
Dr. Kirk graduated in January 1945 from Brookfield High School a semester early to enlist in the United States Navy where he served from 1945-46. He did his basic training in Great Lakes and saw combat in the Pacific Theater in the Philippines and his post war duty was in Oakland, CA. He then attended the Kirksville State Teachers College and graduated in 1952 from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He began his internship in 1953 in Muskegan, MI. His medical practice began in Knob Noster, MO from 1953-1960 and then in Eldon, MO from 1960-1990. He was a board certified member of the American College of General Practitioner’s and his community affiliations included, the Eldon Lion’s Club for sixty-five years, the Eldon Country Club, a charter member of Winterset, the Capital Ritz Let’s Dance Club and was the Eldon High School Football team physician for thirty years.
Graveside Service will be Sunday, January 9, 2022 at 1:30 PM at the Eldon City Cemetery with Full Military Honors presented.
Memorials in his name are suggested to the Eldon Senior Center or the Eldon Friends of Animals.
