Dorothy Dean Thornton

Dorothy Dean Thornton, 87, of Columbia, MO passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at her home.
She was born on February 6, 1927 in Rhineland, MO daughter of Sylvester B. Heying, Sr and Elizabeth C. Kerwin. She was married to Samuel C. McKee who preceded her in death, she then married Lindford Thornton who also preceded her in death.
Dorothy was a homemaker but also worked many years as a cook, bartender and Emergency Medical Technician in the Herman, MO area. She was a member of the Columbia Lodge 594, Elks lodge also the VFW and Eagles in Columbia. She was known for her kindness and her wonderful German Potato salad.
She is survived by 2 sons, Samuel C. McKee, Jr, of Hermann, MO, Gary McKee of Jefferson City, MO, 2 Daughters, Michele Cordry of Columbia and Sandra McKee of St. Louis, MO. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and 2 husbands.
Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Church of the Risen Savior Catholic Church in Rhineland, MO at 11:00 am with a visitation time from 10:00 to service time at the church. Burial will be in St. Josephs Cemetery, Rhineland. Memorials are suggested to the Columbia Elks lodge #594.
