Dorothy (Thorson) Gier-Ferment

Dorothy Gier-Ferment, 92, of Tuscumbia, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Miller County Nursing and Rehab in Tuscumbia, Missouri.  She was born April 1, 1933 in Brooks, Iowa the daughter of the late Johnnie and Ruth (Mitchell) Thorson.  On June 29, 1988 in Camdenton, Missouri she was united in marriage to Frank Ferment who preceded her in death on November 5, 1994.

Survivors include,

Daughter, Sam Bowen (Bill) of Sunrise Beach, MO

Granddaughters, Julie Vaught of Columbia, MO; Julie Edmonds of Maryland Heights, MO; Amy Burnett (Matt) of Lake Ozark, MO

Grandson, Mark Bowen of MI

Great-Granddaughter, Arri Jones of Columbia, MO

Several Great-Great Grandchildren

Siblings, Gladys Kelly, Marjorie Bunch, William “Bill” Thorson, Walter “Benny” Thorson and Roger Thorson

Along with her parents and husband, an infant daughter, Debbie Surman and siblings, Thomas “Tom” Thorson, Robert “Bob” Thorson, James “Putt” Thorson, Russell Thorson and Johnnie Eddie Thorson preceded her in death.

Dorothy was a member of the Red Hat Club, the Eldon VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Eastern Star.  She was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Per her wishes, her body has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
