Dennis Killday Obituary

Dennis Jude Killday, 75, of Eldon, Missouri passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Truman Memorial Veteran’s Hospital in Columbia, MO. He was born November 6, 1949 in Quincy, Illinois the son of the late Robert and Esther (Witherow) Killday. On November 7, 1992 in Eureka Spring, Arkansas he was united in marriage to Linda Joyce (Gier) Maher Killday who survives the home.

Other survivors include,

Children, Tanya Dallmeyer (Kurt) of Jefferson City, MO; Shannon Killday (Tiffany) of Edina, MO; Janelle (Jared) Killday of Jefferson City, MO; Ron Maher (Leslie) of Redfield, KS; Jill Williams (Chad) of Eldon, MO; Ten grandchildren, Hannah Prenger (Justin), and Hailey and Jude Dallmeyer; Caden and Pierce Killday; Dalton (Emily), Cale, and Ella Maher; Macy Cleek (Dakota), and Gage Williams. Great-grandchildren, Kolson and Theo Maher.

Survived by sister Mary Carol (Mike) Early of Kirksville, MO; sister-in-law Carol Ann Killday of Winchester, IL; brother-in-law Jim Bruegenhemke of O’Fallon, MO. He was cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, as well as a large circle of family and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Bob (Shirleen) Killday of Kirksville, MO; Terry Killday of Winchester, IL; Bill (Dorothy) Killday of Edina, MO; Danny Mike (Carolyn) Killday of Holts Summit, MO; Sister, Betty Bruegenhemke of O’Fallon, MO; and in-laws Ersal and Hazel Gier of High Point, MO; sister-in-law Barbara Allison of Flemington, MO.

He was previously married to Pamella (York) Killday Schmutzler in 1970.

Dennis grew up in Edina, Missouri, and attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Knox County High School. He proudly served in the United States Army with active duty in Vietnam from 1968-1970, and the Reserves from 1970-1974. Upon returning home, Dennis began working alongside his brothers and family members in utility line work. He later joined Southwestern Bell, where he dedicated 30 years of service before retiring. Even in retirement, Dennis stayed active, continuing utility contract work with his brothers. His work ethic and commitment to his family and community were evident throughout his life. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Dennis was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, papa, and friend and will be missed by many.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eldon, MO from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by Mass at 11:00 a.m.

Graveside Service will be Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the New St. Joseph Cemetery in Edina, MO with Full Military Honors provided.
