David Gerard Queen, 77, of Eldon, Missouri, passed away at The Lee House Assisted Living Residence, Monday, May 10th, 2021 after a courageous and almost 30-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
David was born May 26th, 1943 in Leadwood, Mo to the late Claude and Nelda (Yount) Queen. On May 27, 1977 he was united in marriage to Patricia (Callison) Queen, who survives the home. Together they have five children; Beth (Steven) Eidson, Walker Weeks, Steven (Karen) Queen, Melissa (Kevin) Gidden, Trung Vu. And ten grandchildren; Katie (Eidson) Haerther, Matthew Eidson, Kaleb Weeks, Ashley (Queen) Eaton, Michael Queen, Joshua Queen, Sheranity Gidden, Shayla Gidden, Tommy Vu, and Tyler Vu. Including many great- grandchildren.
In 1968 David completed two tours in Vietnam serving as a Captain in the United States Army. In between the tours he resided in Germany where he was able to travel and sight see the country.
David owned and operated his own trucking company, but soon decided to switch careers and join the medical field. He began his medical career by working for the Miller County Ambulance District. While working on the ambulance he attended nursing school where he graduated from Lincoln University in 1987. He worked as the emergency room nurse for 12 years before retiring from Capital Region Medical Center in 1999.
David served as a Mason for the Hickory Hill Lodge, #211. He additionally served on the Board of Directors for the Eldon Country Club. He was a member of the Eldon First Christian Church.
During the spring and summer months you could always find David spending majority of his time at the golf course, whether it be perfecting his golf swing, riding in the cart coaching Matt, or telling stories of golf matches he played. He had a true love for the game. Just two weeks before his passing, Dave was at the golf course where he made a 20-foot putt!
He is proceeded in death by his parents, and brother, Charles Queen.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon, Mo. on Thursday, May 13, 2021. Visitation from 10:00-12:00, following by the funeral services at 12:00.
