David Horton Obituary

David “Red” Horton, 69, of Tuscumbia, Missouri passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at Miller County Nursing Home in Tuscumbia, Missouri.  He was born September 24, 1951 in Tuscumbia, Missouri the son of Willard and Imogene (Beard) Horton.  On September 22, 1972 in Tuscumbia, Missouri he was united in marriage to Sandy (Wyrick) Horton who preceded him in death on January 18, 2017.

 

Survivors include,

 

His Children, Jamie Horton (Christa) of Richland, MO; James Raymond Koob (Brenda) of Marshall, MO; Robin Earleywine (Kirk) of St. Louis, MO; Ashley McClelland (Tom) of Tuscumbia, MO

 

Ten Grandchildren, Garrett & Jacob Horton, Reese & Kohen Earleywine, Blake & Beck Watring, Brooklyn Davis , James Tyler, Brielle & Levi Koob

 

Mother, Imogene Horton; Father in law, Robert Wyrick

 

Sisters, Sandy Ferguson of Fulton, MO; Sharon Sidebottom of Tuscumbia, MO

 

Along with his wife, a grandson, Emmett Lynn McClelland, his father, Willard David Horton, sisters, Joyce Burton & Marybeth Horton preceded him in death.

 

“Red” retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation MODOT. He continued to work part-time with the Barnett Road District.  He served as past school board president for the Tuscumbia School District and past Mayor of Tuscumbia.   He was a member of the Missouri Offhand Association, the California Gun Club and the United Sportsman Club of Jefferson City.  “Red” enjoyed traveling to black powder, trap,  and skeet shooting events.  In 2019,  “Red”  became the National Champion in Trap Shooting, but his greatest love was spending time with his family.

 

Visitation will be Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Tuscumbia, MO with the Funeral Service beginning at 2:00 PM with Rev. David Visser officiating.  Burial will follow at Gott Cemetery.

 

Memorials in his name are suggested In Care of the Family.
