Charles “Charley” F. Farris, age 78, of Eugene, died Thursday, March 30, 2023, at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
He was born Monday, June 12, 1944 in Spring Garden, only because he wanted to be close to his mother. He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert O. and Nellie (George) Farris.
He was a 1962 graduate of Cole R-V Eugene. He served in the United States Army 1965-1967, spending most of his time in Germany. He married Barbara Jean (Ekstam) on June 29, 1969. He was an active member of the Eugene Christian Church and held many positions over the years. He was a proud member of the I.B.E.W. Local #257. During his time, he held a term as President and “almost single – handedly wired” most projects he was on. He enjoyed spending time with his family, burning the trash, getting the mail and fighting bears: “manly things.”
He is survived by his wife, his brother William “Bill” Farris (Joanie), and daughters Melissa Farris of Eugene and Theresa Koetting (Gary) of Eugene, three granddaughters, Samantha Miller (Kyle) of Jefferson City, Nicole Koetting of Eugene, Rachel Koetting of Eugene, two grandsons Jeremy Mattingly of Princeton, IL & Joshua Mattingly of Hennepin, IL, two great grandchildren Declan & Lyla Miller of Jefferson City.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 8, 2023 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 AM with Alan McNeely & Daryl Struemph officiating with Full Military Honors following the service.
Interment will be a private family gathering at a later date.
