Charles E. Wood

Charles E. Wood, 89, of Eldon, Missouri passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at his residence.  He was born May 29, 1935 in Eldon, Missouri the son of the late Lymon and Ide (Burris) Wood.  On September 1, 1968 in Kansas City, Kansas he was united in marriage to Hazel (Fiderling) Wood who preceded him in death on November 5, 2011.

Survivors include,

Daughters, Cathy Nicholson of Eldon, MO; Karen Scrivner of Eldon, MO; Jill Young of Overland Park, KS; Grandchildren, Cynthia Jones of Kansas City, MO; Richard Nicholson of Kansas City, KS; Kelly Wood of Eldon, MO; Philip Wood of Osage Beach, MO; Nicole Young of Overland Park, KS; Morgan Young of Overland Park, KS; Brock Young of Overland Park, KS, Great-Grandchildren Justice Nicholson of Lansing, KS; and Grayson Wood of Eldon, MO. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Hazel Wood, two brothers, four sisters, Daughter Christy Wood, and one other daughter.

Charles was employed with TWA in Kansas City, MO for forty-four years, and was a member of the machinist Union. He enjoyed fishing, fish fry’s, Cardinal’s baseball, Kansas City Chiefs, and mowing the grass.  Charles also loved his family, gardening, and enjoyed the company of his best friend Dale Douglas.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorials in his name are suggested to Hospice Compassus.

A graveside service will be on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Eldon City Cemetery.
