Cathy (Scheppers) Barklage, 61, of Rocky Mount, Missouri, passed away at her home on Thursday, July 10, 2025. Born on February 23, 1964, in Jefferson City, Missouri, she was the cherished daughter of Gary Scheppers and Elizabeth (Lammers). Cathy found her soulmate in Mark Barklage, and they were united in marriage on April 25, 1981, sharing a beautiful life together.
Cathy’s legacy lives on through her beloved sons, Zach Barklage and his wife Tiffany, and Cody Barklage and his wife Morgan, all of Rocky Mount, MO. She was the proud grandmother of three precious grandchildren: Stiles, Stella, and Truman Barklage. She is also survived by her mother, Elizabeth Dunsford (Ron) of Rocky Mount, MO, her devoted sister, Lesa Kelley (Jim) of California, MO, her caring brother, Tim Scheppers (Laura) of Rocky Mount, MO, and her loving step-sister, Monica Hamilton (Gary) of California, MO. A woman of profound faith, Cathy was a devoted member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where she found community and comfort. She worked as a talented cosmetologist and also played a key role in the family business, Mark Barklage Drywall. Cathy embraced every moment with a deep love for life—she treasured traveling, spending time on the water, and enjoying the simple beauty of nature. She was a dedicated supporter of her sons’ racing careers and relished moments filled with music and camping. Cathy also loved attending her family’s ball games and found peace and joy in fishing—especially when it meant quality time with those she loved. Known for her selflessness, Cathy always put others before herself, embodying love and forgiveness. Her greatest pride and joy were her family and her wonderful grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Cathy had a gift for making everyone feel seen and special, whether through a warm hug, a kind word, or a thoughtful gesture. She remembered birthdays, sent cards "just because," and always knew when someone needed encouragement. She was a trusted friend, a second mom to many, and a quiet source of strength to those lucky enough to know her.
