"C.F." Huff II

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clarence Festus Huff II, known as “C.F.” and “Huff”, on January 21, 2025 at the age of 81.  Huff passed away peacefully at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO surrounded by his wife and family.  Huff was born on June 17, 1943, and raised in Lewis, Kansas, the son of Lula R. Huff and Clarence F. Huff.

Wife, Susann L. Huff of Sunrise Beach, MO.

Children, Jaison & Tonya (Huff) Johnson of Apple Valley, MN. Anthony & Leslie Copeland of Eldon, MO. Jason & Lori Green of Eldon, MO. Son in law, Eric Anderson of Eldon, MO.

Grandchildren, Mackenzie & Brandon Weber, Mason Anderson, Morgan Anderson, Addisyn Copeland, Zadie Johnson, Meredith Anderson, Canon Copeland, Aneya Johnson, and McCali Green.

Great Grandchildren, Landon & Blakely Weber.

Numerous, numerous friends and “adopted” family.

He is proceeded in death by his parents & siblings, Ina Jean Wampler, Delbert (James) Huff, and Barbara Schmidt.

Huff was a member of the Lewis Christian Church.  He attended K-12th grade at the Lewis School House where he excelled in athletics and was known as the onery “Chug-a-lug” champion of Lewis High.  From there he attended Hutchinson Community college on a sports scholarship.  On July 11th, 1985, he married Susann Lynn Sergeant on the bluffs across from the home they shared together.  Together they shared their home for 40+ years where they raised their family.  Huff worked at Southwestern Bell for 25 years.  From there he moved onto work for Turner Construction where he was a well-respected supervisor.  He was an instrumental part in installing the first cable tv on the West Side of the Lake.  He was also a charter member of the Elks Lodge (2705) where he signed the first 75 members and was named the first “Elk of the Year”.  He spent his retirement volunteering in various community organizations.

For 27 years he invested his heart and soul into running “Huffs Family Fireworks”.  He loved his Tuesdays at Nex door, with his “Fog” Gang and Tuesday evenings in his garage for what was known as the “safety meeting”.  He enjoyed shuffleboard Sundays and was a skilled card player.  He had a talent when it came to gambling and the best poker face you’ve ever seen.  He was the best listener.  Always up for an adventure.  A role model and teacher to anyone willing to listen and learn.  Huff knew no stranger.  Everywhere he went, he would run into someone he knew, no matter where in the world he was.

To know Huff was to love Huff.  There will never be enough room to share the incredible legacy that Huff is.  We mourn the loss of his presence, but find comfort in knowing that he lived life to the fullest.  He truly lived an incredibly full life, a life of joy, happiness, and adventure.  Our hearts are full of beautiful memories, that we will cherish forever.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Zach Wheat American Legion in Sunrise Beach, MO.

In Lieu of plants and flowers, the family ask that you take a moment, crack a beer, and remember the incredible man, husband, father and papa that Clarence Festus Huff II was.
