Blanche Laffey Obituary

Blanche Laffey passed away on April 8, 2021 at her daughter Mary’s home in Columbia, Missouri.  Blanche was born on August 25, 1923 in Naperville, Illinois to parents Ralph and Alice (Maliosky) Feldott.  Predeceased by sister Gladys Maley and brother William Feldott.  She married Paul Laffey on April 12, 1947 who passed away in 2009. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Laffey in 2012. 

She is survived by her sons, Thomas Laffey and wife Noreen, James Laffey and wife Linda Espinosa, Patrick Laffey and wife Priscilla and daughter Mary Laffey.

Grandchildren, Samantha Laffey (engaged to Nathan Shaulis), Kelly Laffey and husband Jayson Harris, Courtney Andrada and husband Mark, Andrea Laffey and husband Tim Quinlan, Aaron Johansen and wife Carina, David King and wife Kim.

Great Grandchildren, Mackenzie Andrada and Emerson Andrada.

Blanche graduated from North Central College in Naperville, IL and taught home economics for several years thereafter.  She moved to Eldon from upstate New York in 1971 and resided in Eldon until 2019 when she began living at Lenoir in Columbia, MO.  She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for nearly 50 years.  While in Eldon she was a member of PEO, the Eldon Garden Club and was an avid bridge player.  She was also a long time member of the Eldon Golf Club and played into her early 90’s.  In 2002 she was honored by the Eldon Chamber of Commerce as Distinguished Citizen of the year.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO. 

Funeral Mass will be Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Eldon, MO with Rev. Fred Elskamp officiating.  Burial will follow at the Eldon City Cemetery.

In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Incarnate Word Academy in St. Louis, Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital in St. Louis, El Puente Ministry in Jefferson City or Gateway Industries in Eldon.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO.
