Annetta (Jackie) Bray, 84, formerly of Anderson, Indiana and Eldon, Missouri, died in Columbus, Indiana, on March 22nd, 2025.
Jackie was born May 12th, 1940 in Eldon, MO to Lawrence Everett and Rosa Lee (Schlesinger) Jackson. Jackie attended school in Eldon, then received an AA degree from Southwest Bible College where she met her future husband, Ellis Bray. They were married in 1960. Mrs. Bray was a life-long church member and enjoyed singing in the choir and playing piano for the congregation. After raising two children, Jackie returned to university and received her B.A. in Studio Fine Arts in 1995 from Anderson University in Indiana.
In 1997 the Brays returned to Missouri and continued to pursue their artistic interests creating music and lapidary jewelry, while Jackie continued to paint watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings. After Ellis’s death in 2021, Jackie lived with her two adult children and their families, spending months at a time alternately in Tennessee and Indiana.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Jay and Debbie Bray of Hartsville, IN; a daughter and her husband, Melody and Michael Rutledge of Woodbury, TN; and an honorary son and his wife, Marcus and Elis Pereira of Porto Allegre, Brazil; three grandchildren, Jessica Gifford, Marshall Gillikin, and Valkyrie Rutledge; and one great grandchild, Jackson Gifford.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Leotta Stevens; and her beloved husband of 60 years, Ellis.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM with a celebration of life service at 10:00 AM held in Eldon, Missouri on May 10th, 2025 at Phillips Funeral Home.
