Alma Gertrude (Kempker) Loethen

Alma Gertrude (Kempker) Loethen, 102, of Mary’s Home, Missouri passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Jefferson City Manor in Jefferson City, Missouri.  She was born April 12, 1917 in Mary’s Home, Missouri the daughter of the late Henry and Sophia (Lepper) Kempker.  On October 12, 1937 in Mary’s Home, Missouri she was united in marriage to Leo H. Loethen who preceded her in death on April 8, 1991.

Several Nieces and Nephews survive her.

A daughter, Dolores P. Loethen, five sisters, Elizabeth Lueckenhoff, Margaret Doerhoff, Anna Bax, Hilda Doerhoff and Martha Schulte, and three brothers, Adolph Kempker, Fredrick Kempker and Mathias Kempker preceded her in death.

Alma was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Mary’s Home, MO.  She pieced together many quilts for the Mary’s Home picnic for several years.  She dedicated her life to caring for her daughter Dolores.  She and Leo moved to Topeka, KS where she volunteered for two years at Cappers Foundation for the handicapped children.  Then moved to Kansas City, MO where she volunteered for five years with the Helen Osterloh Foundation.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church with a Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 AM with Rev. Greg Oligschlaeger officiating.  Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Snows Cemetery.

Memorials in her name are suggested to Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church or Our Lady of the Snows Cemetery.
