 Ruth I . (Essink) Wieskamp, 92, went home to be with the Lord on May 12, 2017. Ruth was born November 19, 1924, to Edward and Sena (Wissink) Essink near Panama, Nebraska. She attended Wooden Shoe School, near her home. On January 20, 1949, she married Melvin Wieskamp in Firth, Nebraska and they were married 56 years at the time of Melvin’s passing in 2005. In Ruth’s early years she worked at Beatrice Foods and then Elgin Watch Company in Lincoln. Following her marriage, the next 20 years were spent at home, serving as a devoted housewife and mother. After the family moved to Missouri in 1969 she was employed for a time in Eldon, Missouri at Dye Candy Company and then Fasco, where she retired in 1993 after 18 years employment. After failing health, Ruth moved back to Nebraska in 2014 to live with her daughter, and has been at Gold Crest Retirement Center, Adams, Nebraska the past 2+ years.

Ruth is survived by her three children, Marlin (Trella) Wieskamp, Marcia (Dan) Rand, and Larry (Patty) Wieskamp, 11 grandchildren, Gabriel Wieskamp, Jessica (Louis) Rose, AD Wieskamp, Violet (Danny) Hawk, Wesley (Tanya) Wiggins, Ben (Lindsey) Rand,  Cassie (Tim) Held, AJ (Tiffany) Rand, Tessa (Jacob) Bischoff, Kesha (David) Kellogg, and Karissa (Nathan) Schwartz and 17 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Melvin, mother and father, brothers Henry and William, and sister Ella Wissink.

Ruth made a profession of faith at a young age and was a part of Pella, Holland, and Firth Reformed Churches while in Nebraska. She has been a member of First Baptist Church, Eldon, Missouri, for the past 48 years where in her younger years she served as a Sunday School Teacher.

Memorial service will be held at Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett, Missouri on June 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, Missouri is in charge of arrangements.
