Rose Bernadine Love, age 93 years, of Mary’s Home, Missouri passed away Saturday, September 23 at Villa Marie in Jefferson City.
Rose was born May 18, 1924 in St. Anthony, Missouri. the daughter of John and Elizabeth Steinman Doerhoff. She was married on October 6, 1956 in Clinton, Missouri to Floyd E. Love who preceded her in death on October 2, 2008.
Rose graduated as Valedictorian from Iberia High School in 1942. After high school, she held several jobs in St. Louis including at the Mavrakos candy factory, American Lithofold, and the St. Louis Ordnance Plant making ammunition during World War II. She was a storekeeper at both the St. Anthony and the Hickory Hill family stores. She was a homemaker and farm wife who enjoyed reading, music, cooking, and gardening. Rose was a member of the Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church and the Altar Sodality. She was a volunteer librarian at the Our Lady of Snows School for 32 years and a 43 year cancer survivor.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and William J. “Bill” Braun of Mary’s Home; two granddaughters, Sharon Rose Braun of Vancouver, Washington, and Catherine Marie Braun (friend Scott Breeden) of Mary’s Home; three sisters-in-law, Gladys Doerhoff of St. Elizabeth, Martha Love of Holts Summit, Agnes Love of Mary’s Home; one brother-in-law, Norman McCubbin of Hickory Hill, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Phillip Doerhoff, Dominicus “Tim” Doerhoff, and Lambert Doerhoff, two sisters, Agnes Ballman, and Ida “Betty” McCubbin, two sisters-in-law, Regina Doerhoff and Rose Doerhoff  and one brother-in-law, Leo Ballman.

Visitation will be at Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church in Mary’s Home from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m . Interment will follow at the Our Lady of the Snows Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Our Lady of Snows parish or the American Cancer Society in care of Mary’s Home Bank. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Phillips Funeral Home.
