Paul Merli Obituary

Paul Thomas Merli, son of Tom & Irene (Toth) Merli was born October 2, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on Sunday, December 22, 2019 in his home in Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of 88 years, 2 month & 20 days.

On January 30, 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri he was united with the love of his life, Betty Louis (Connell), to this union were 2 children. Together they shared 64 years and 11 months of marriage.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife Betty of Osage Beach, MO; two sons, John Merli & wife Laurie; Larry Merli & wife Lori; 6 grandchildren, two step grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, brother, David Merli, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was blessed with life long friend Harry Diehl. Paul shared many happy times with his brothers & 7 Connell brothers in law. Paul was an avid Cardinal fan. In his spare time he enjoyed boating, fishing, camping and loved playing pinochle cards, and making bird houses and fixing things. He was a loving Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, son, brother and friend. He enjoyed his years as manager at Carl’s Hardware.

Paul was a member of Hope Lutheran Chapel and enjoyed helping out at church. We treasure the memories he created for us as we celebrate his life.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM at Hope Lutheran Chapel of Osage Beach, MO with the Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 PM with Pastor Guillaume Williams officiating. Full Military Honors will be presented at the church. Burial will follow at Enloe Cemetery in Russellville, MO.

Memorials in his name are suggested to Hope Lutheran Chapel of Osage Beach, MO.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO.
