Margaret G. (Johnston) Gier

Margaret G. (Johnston) Gier, age 78 of Eldon passed away March 19, 2018 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Jefferson City, MO.  Margaret was born March 16, 1940 in Linn Creek, the daughter of the late Thomas and Elsie (Luttrell) Johnston.

She was born and raised in rural Camden County and attended school in Montreal and Stoutland.  In the late 1950’s she moved to Lake of the Ozarks.   Margaret was united in marriage on December 1, 1962 to Dennis H. Gier, who preceded her in death on January 17, 2017. 

Margaret was employed at Campbell’s Lake House, Stanton Manufacturing, the Haunted Hotel, School of the Osage, and later with Scholastics in Jefferson City.  She was a homemaker who enjoyed reading and quilting.

She is survived by one son, Dan A. Gier and wife Stacy of Lake Ozark, one daughter, Sandra K. Gier and Greg Pruitt of Jefferson City.  Four grandchildren, Tricia Parker (Dustin) of Denver, CO, Christy Staggs (Jared) of Dallas, TX, Eryn Pruitt and Emme Pruitt of Eldon, one great grandson, Benjamin Parker.  Five brothers: John (Betty) Johnston, James (Sherry) Johnston, Kenny Johnston, Larry Johnston and Rayborn (Nita) Johnston, three sisters: Lois Leffert, Thelma (David) Howell and Nancy Murrell.  One sister-in-law Connie (Jim) Cardwell, brothers-in-law Steve Gier and Chuck Brown all of Eldon.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Johnston along with three sisters-in-law, Cloveta

 Johnston, Judy Brown and R. Sue Comstock and two brother-in-laws James Murrell and Jim Leffert. 

Visitation will be Friday, March 23, 2018 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO with the Funeral Service beginning 2:00 PM.  Burial will follow at the Eldon City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name are suggested In Care of the Family.
