John Graessle Obituary

John “Jack” Graessle, 85, of Eldon, Missouri passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Missouri.  He was born July 26, 1933 in Jefferson City, Missouri the son of the late Louis and Catherine (Bode) Graessle.  On June 10, 1961 he was united in marriage to Mary (Huhn) Graessle at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Westphalia, Missouri.  He is survived by his wife Mary.

Sons, Myron Graessle (Kristin) of CA; Terry Graessle (Eileen) of Ballwin, MO

 

Grandchildren, Stephanie Graessle and Quinn Graessle

 

Brother, Tom Graessle (Agnes) Sisters, Mary Jo Brandt (Urban); Helen Odendahl

 

Four brothers, Paul, Donald, Phil & Carl Graessle and two sisters, Virginia Carel and Ann Falter preceded him in death.

 

Jack served in the United States Army from 1954-1956.  He was employed with McDonnell-Douglas as an engineer and retired after thirty years.  He served as past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #2951 in Florissant, MO.

 

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Eldon, MO where he served as an usher, greeter, Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Rosary leader and attended Adoration monthly.  He was instrumental in creating the Spring Again Senior Citizens Club held monthly at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Center.  Jack’s hobbies included bowling, horseshoe pitching, traveling, fishing, hunting, gardening and wine making.  

 

Visitation will be Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM.  Funeral Mass will be Monday, September 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Eldon, MO with Msgr. Marion Makarewicz and Msgr. Donald Lammers officiating.  Burial will follow at 3:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Westphalia, MO.  Memorials in his name are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Eldon, MO or the Vitae Foundation.
