Helen Roberta (Helton) Mathews

Helen Roberta (Helton) Mathews, 93, of Tuscumbia, Missouri passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Miller County Nursing Home in Tuscumbia, Missouri.  She was born July 28, 1924 in Tuscumbia, Missouri the daughter of the late George W. and Hanna Mae (Broome) Helton.  On November 3, 1942 she was united in marriage to Rulo Ira Mathews who preceded her in death January 9, 1988.

Six Grandchildren, Angela Mathews of Kansas City, MO; Carla (Stephen) Utterback of Odessa, MO; Christopher Lee of Mexico, MO; Cassandra (Lee) Bright of CT; Laci (Mathews) Blanton (Tim) of Ozark, MO; Joshua Mathews of Jefferson City, MO.

Seven Great Grandchildren, Corinna & Lukas Utterback of Odessa, MO; Jasmine Lee of Mexico, MO; Julian Ryno of CT; Gavin John Mathews of Jefferson City, MO; Andrew & Jacob Blanton of Ozark, MO

Many nephews & nieces.

Three sisters, Elpha Crump, Velma Stark and Lee Enloe, four brothers, Truman, Robert, Wayne & Warren Helton, and one grandson, Levi John Mathews preceded her in death.

Helen graduated from Tuscumbia High School on May 13, 1943.  She was a homemaker and farm wife in Fortuna, MO until 1973 when she and Rulo moved to Eldon.  She was an avid volunteer at the Eldon Senior Center of Eldon, MO and Christ’s Church of Osage Beach, MO.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO with the Funeral Service beginning at 3:00 PM with Rev. John Mathews & Rev. Dennis Helton officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenmore Memorial Gardens in Barnett, MO. Memorials in her name are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO.
