Billy “Bill” John Lakey, 93, of Eldon, Missouri passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Missouri.  He was born June 25, 1924 in Chanute, Kansas, the son of the late Enos and Doris (Biggs) Lakey.  On February 13, 1965 in Kansas City, Missouri he was united in marriage to Maxine (Tool) Lakey who survives of the home.

Sons, Craig Lakey of Austin, TX; Kevin Lakey of Olathe, KS

Brother, Leroy Lakey (Joyce) of Anderson, IN

Sister Addie Mae Stark of Garnett, TX

His brothers, Arlie & Jack Lakey, his first wife, Harriette (Dunn) Lakey and a stillborn son, Randy preceded him in death.

Bill attended Kansas University where he studied art before serving in the Army Air Force as a gunnery instructor.  He graduated from Bethany Peniel College and Nazarene Theological Seminary.  Bill’s career consisted of pastoring in Nazarene churches and working as an artist at the Nazarene Publishing House.  Bill retired from the Nazarene Publishing House in 1989 and then moved with Maxine to Barnett, MO at the Lake of the Ozarks. 

Burial will be Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Green Lawn Cemetery located at 8251 Hillcrest Road Kansas City, MO at 1:00 PM with Dr. Jorge Barros officiating.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Eldon Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jerry Frye officiating.

Memorials in his name are suggested to the Eldon Church of the Nazarene P.O. Box 5 Eldon, MO.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO.
