Alfred Buchanan Obituary

Alfred “Al” Buchanan, 70, formerly of Eldon, Missouri passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at Sherbrooke Village in St. Louis, Missouri.  He was born December 21, 1949 in Tuscumbia, Missouri the son of the late Edgar Sherman and Wilma Mae (Robbins) Buchanan.

He is survived by his daughter Shelly Buchanan of St. Louis, MO; and a nephew, James Buchanan of Atlanta, GA

Al was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1968-1972 in the Honor Guard.  He was employed as a police officer for the Jefferson City Police Department for many years and then with Simpson Distributing Company of Jefferson City, MO. and the Eldon Lumber Company of Eldon, MO. 

Al was a very creative man, he found enjoyment while playing his guitar, singing and writing songs, and he loved to draw. 

Visitation will be Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO with Funeral Services beginning at 2:00 PM with Brother Bob Hoskins officiating.  Full Military Honors will be presented at the funeral home by the Eldon VFW Post #2442.  Private Family Interment will be held at Greenmore Memorial Gardens in Barnett, MO at a later date.  Memorials in his name are suggested to the Central Missouri Honor Flight 625 Cherry St. Columbia, MO  65201
