Dear Powell family. I am so sorry to have read of the death of Joe. Please accept my sincere condolences. I would like to share something that I have personally found to be comforting. It is found in the Bible at John 5:28, 29 and Revelation 21:4. These verses tell us that soon God is going to bring about a resurrection of our dear loved ones as well as do away with all causes we have for suffering, including sickness and death. Knowing this has always comforted me and it is my hope that these thoughts will comfort your family also.

Katherine, Mary Jo Nichols Newman (who still lives at the lake—and used to live across the street from Joe) sent me Joe's obituary. With my mother (Helen James) gone, I lost track of everyone, and I wondered what had happened to you both. My husband died last May, so I do have a sense of what you are going through right now. I remember Joe well as we grew up together in the village until he disappeared after graduating from high school, eight years ahead of our class (I now realize). I remember how beautiful you were. I am so glad you had such a long life together.
